Handpans Shaped by Sound

Panstream handpans are built without compromise. If the tuning isn’t right, if the resonance doesn’t sing, the instrument simply doesn’t leave the workshop. Rooted in the SteelPan traditions of Trinidad & Tobago and refined through decades of tuning and making, Panstream instruments are guided first and foremost by sound.

Built by Ear. Finished by Feel.

Every Panstream instrument is shaped by hand, where sound and physical craft come together. This is the work behind the sound — hours of careful forming, subtle adjustments, and learned judgement built through experience. It’s here that balance, clarity, and musical life are worked into the steel, long before the final notes are played.

About Panstream

At the heart of the workshop is Mark — a maker and tuner whose roots lie in Trinidad & Tobago, the birthplace of the SteelPan. From his early years in the panyard to working alongside leading SteelPan makers and orchestras in London, his craft has been shaped by tradition, discipline, and deep listening.

Today, Panstream operates as a small, family-run workshop on the Devon coast, producing custom handpans and tuning work for players around the world. Each instrument is made by hand, guided by experience rather than formulas, and finished only when it feels musically complete.

Alongside bespoke builds, Panstream also creates a small number of carefully considered instruments for beginners, as well as specialised designs intended for accessibility and therapeutic settings. Regardless of purpose, every instrument reflects the same core approach: attentive making, thoughtful sound, and instruments built to support long-term musical connection.
